Food and accommodation all definitely up to what was promised. Very careful driver and has the ability to relate to all and sundry. Good fun as well. First tour for us and very pleasurable. A very good variety of attractions selected.

Day 1: Auckland - Thames - Coromandel (L, D)
We depart Auckland and your Coromandel Caper begins! We travel south down the motorway to the Thames Highway and stop for the magical Butterfly and Orchid Garden. Our lunch stop is the Trellis Tearoom at Rapaura Watergardens. You will enjoy wandering among Rapaura’s beautiful 64 acres of native trees, lily ponds, bridges, streams and a cascading waterfall. Travelling further north along this picturesque coastline, we arrive at historic Coromandel where the town’s gold mining past is still visible today, beautifully restored buildings line the main street. We dine in Coromandel Township.
Day 2: Coromandel - Whitianga (B, L, D)
Sit back as we explore the heart of this stunning Peninsula. First we visit Barry Brickell’s Driving Creek Railway and Potteries to ride the narrow gauge mountain railway train. We travel on this quaint little train up through the bush to the pinnacle – the Eyefull Tower. This tower lives up to its name – the views are magnificent. We lunch at the wonderful Waterworks. Leaving the West Coast we drive over the hills to the beach resorts of Matarangi, Whangapoua and Kuaotunu. Our Whitianga accommodation is on the beachfront. We dine in Whitianga this evening.
Day 3: Whitianga - Whangamata (B, L, D)
This morning we explore Whitianga. We visit the popular holiday spots of Hahei, Hot Water Beach and Cook’s Beach and lunch with Barry and Heather at their orchard home set in beautiful gardens. Continuing south we pass through Tairua and take a side trip to Pauanui before arriving in Whangamata. We dine near Whangamata’s famous surf beach.
Day 4: Whangamata - Waihi - Seabird Coast - Clevedon - Auckland (B, L)
After breakfast we’re bound for Waihi to the Martha Mine site and local craft shops. We lunch at Poets Corner boutique lodge high above the Waihi coastline and enjoy John and Marg’s hospitality. We drive through the dramatic Karangahake Gorge and along the Seabird Coast, through Miranda and Clevedon returning to Auckland in the late afternoon.
Located only 400 metres from the town centre among native bush and overlooking Coromandel Harbour. It has a heated swimming pool and spa.
