Day 1: Auckland - Thames - Coromandel (L, D)
We depart Auckland and your Coromandel Caper begins! We travel south down the motorway to the Thames Highway and stop for the magical Butterfly and Orchid Garden. Our lunch stop is the Trellis Tearoom at Rapaura Watergardens. You will enjoy wandering among Rapaura’s beautiful 64 acres of native trees, lily ponds, bridges, streams and a cascading waterfall. Travelling further north along this picturesque coastline, we arrive at historic Coromandel where the town’s gold mining past is still visible today, beautifully restored buildings line the main street. We dine in Coromandel Township.

Sit back as we explore the heart of this stunning Peninsula. First we visit Barry Brickell’s Driving Creek Railway and Potteries to ride the narrow gauge mountain railway train. We travel on this quaint little train up through the bush to the pinnacle – the Eyefull Tower. This tower lives up to its name – the views are magnificent. We lunch at the wonderful Waterworks.
